Fundación Gonzalo Aponte helps OBRA Rescue save stray dogs in Puerto Rico

In November of 2025, we began our partnership with OBRA Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing stray dogs in Puerto Rico and connecting them with their forever homes.

Founded and operated by Giselle Colon, OBRA Rescue specializes in the pickup, preparation, vaccination, care, and shipment of healthy rescues in Puerto Rico with their forever homes, sometimes in the states.

This labor of love is hard work - rescues often need training and medical attention, and conditions need to be perfect for airborne travel.

We had the pleasure of meeting Giselle at Baldwin Animal Hospital where she and her team of dedicated volunteers bring their rescues and fosters for vaccinations and sterilization, and assisting them with the shipment of not one, but two batches of puppies destined for better lives with their new families in Massachusetts.

Fundación Gonzalo Aponte donated $1,000, sponsoring the safe shipment of 6 dogs from SJU to BOS. These donations are made possible in part by the ongoing support from our guests at Mar de Sueños.
