Olga Iglesias Project debuts first-of-its-kind commissioned children’s opera

“On November 22, we made history with the world premiere of La Batalla de los Clásicos at Sagrado Corazón University!

This innovative opera, composed by Johanny Navarro [@johannyivelisse] and written by Paloma Sierra [@pasierra], brought to life the legacies of Puerto Rican composers Juan Morel Campos, Manuel Gregorio Tavárez, and Felipe Gutiérrez y Espinosa for an audience of elementary school students from Trujillo Alto in San Juan.

The students not only experienced the music of these iconic figures but also learned about their lives and their significance to Puerto Rico’s cultural heritage!
